It’s the age old argument isn’t it? Which is better? To be just like everyone else or to be yourself. Today I learned that the ability to follow directions is more highly valued than who you are as a person. When applying for a dietetic internship, your application can be tossed out, without being evaluated, if you do not follow their directions. In other words, you could be the most qualified person for the job, but if you send in too much information you’ll be disregarded without evaluation. Am I the only one who finds that disgusting? Programs like these claim to be looking for creative and charismatic individuals, but that’s a load of crap. They want you to follow their directions. What happened to valuing the person? Higher education is meant to show you how to think, not what to think. I am disgusted by this gross mismatching of what’s supposed to be happening and what is. I used to worship the professionals, The doctors, the lawyers. I used to think that they had something I didn’t and I’ve spent the last 20 years trying to figure out what that was. I realize now that I have something they don’t. A free mind. I haven’t been forced to jump through so many hoops that it’s ground out my creativity. I refuse to be their showdog. I refuse to lose me. I’m just sorry it took me this long to realize it.
What’s wrong with our society? (At least those in Academia). Do you think they’re aware of the unnecessary pressure that is placed on young people? Do you think they know the part they play?
When I was 7 school was fun. I enjoyed every second of it and I couldn’t wait for summer to end and school to begin. I had an appetite for learning and a love for knowledge. (Those of you who know me personally know this to be a true statement.) I’ve found, unfortunately as I grow older, that I dread school. I hate going to class and sitting in rooms with 300 other people who feel the same way. And the faculty? They don’t care about their students. Why would they? They’re sitting on tenure and getting paid whether we learn anything or not!
When did school become a chore? When did my love for learning and my thirst for knowledge die? I’ll tell you. When the teachers stopped caring. When the only factor that drags my butt to class every day is the absurdly high tuition.
Where are the caring faculty? Where have they gone? If you can hear me out there we need you back. The impostors are ruining the learning game. Where ever you are PLEASE COME BACK.

So here’s the deal. College reading is pointless reading. It’s mind numbing. You can sit and stare at pages of black and white but if it’s not interesting it doesn’t matter. Academia has taken the
entertainment out of reading. If you want the kids to read give them something exciting, enthralling and imaginative. imagination is no longer considered an admired trait, but rather its been come to be known as undesirable. I say, give the kids the freedom to love the literature! College is supposed to teach you how to think not what to think.
So, I’ve recently recruited my friend to help me bring my characters to life. He’s an artist and has agreed to humor me. But here’s the catch, I would like multiple people to create one single character as a means to create different versions of the same thing. This will allow me the creative independence to chose what I’d truly like my character to look like.
So, if there are any artists out there who would like to help me out just respond to this post. I’ll be happy to supply you with a thorough description of the character I’d like you to create. 🙂 Thanks,

What would you name your main character? I’ve found myself regretting the name Mya for my main character. Mayhaps you can help me pick her new name. Here’s a short description of her character to help you chose…
She’s 19 years old with blonde hair and grey eyes. She’s the leader of a band of rebels who plan to overthrow the government. She’s strong on the outside but broken inside. She’s an orphan living in a kind of medieval village.
I’m looking for a unique, strong sounding name. I’d prefer it to be a name that is odd, strange or new.
Thanks for your help 🙂

I cannot believe what has happened! I have lost all faith in people completely. I mean honestly, what is wrong with my generation? Could they be more egotistical or narcissistic? But that’s not even the worst part…Could my generation be more cruel? When you see the homeless man sitting on the sidewalk in the rain, your first instinct should not be to drive past him and splash him while you drive through the puddle! I mean come on! That man might be a veteran, or a businessman who’s down on his luck. Leave the man alone! Your first thought should be, “how can I help him?” I have lost all faith in this society. The future leaders of the world are cruel, heartless people. God help our country if these are the people who will be in charge!
